ABOUT THE COOPERATIVE
This coffee comes from several small farms (1-3 hectares) in the Colombian region of Gaitania, which is the southern part of the municipality of Tolima. Located in the valleys of the Magdalena River in the center of the Andes mountain massif, this territory is characterized by a variety of geographical landscapes and climatic conditions. Thanks to the region, the region is one of the main centers for the cultivation of high-quality coffee, cotton and rice. Gaitania is located in the south of one of the largest volcanoes in Colombia – Nevado del Huila, the top of which is covered by a glacier. At the Cofinet farms and at the La Pradera processing center, the brothers experiment with exotic varieties, achieving unique profiles new to Colombian coffee.
70% of the local population consists of representatives of the endemic group “Nasa Wesx”, who grow coffee on small farms and are members of cooperatives such as Cofinet.
