Ethiopia Aricha.
Located in prime coffee lands (less than 5 km from the town of Yirgacheffe), the station is within reach of several coffee-growing communities—Aricha, Reko, Hersi, Naga Singege and Idido. Everything is perfect for coffee here – an experienced farming community, fertile soil, mountains and forests provide the perfect microclimate.

Enter Feisel Abdosh and Testi Kava. Faisal comes from a family of coffee farmers and knows what good coffee is. In fact, his first attempt as a young man was to find good coffee and offer it to coffee buyers in his home district of Harar.

 

The first year was tough as there was a lot to do, but all the hard work paid off. Currently, Aricha is considered one of Testi’s continuously operating washing stations. Farmers around the station no longer have to travel far to sell their cherries and are happy to work with the Aricha washing station. Although the washing station does not treat each farmer’s plot separately, it does treat each farming community’s plot separately. As a result, traceability goes a step further than the Aricha washing station and extends to its communities.
